How it works
Add each child’s name and age, then tick the chores you want done. The chart gives everyone old enough their own personal jobs, like making their bed and packing their school bag, and shares the household jobs out fairly: each one goes to the old-enough child with the fewest jobs so far. Daily jobs rotate day by day, and weekly jobs land on the quietest day.
The ages are a guide to when most children can manage a job, with help at first. You know your child best, so untick anything that doesn’t suit.
Pocket money can be paid per chore or as a fixed weekly amount. Everything is saved in your browser only. Teaching money skills? Older children can use the salary converter to see what an hourly rate adds up to.
Questions
What chores can a 5-year-old do?
Pack away toys, make their bed (roughly is fine), put dirty clothes in the basket, put shoes away, feed pets, set and clear the table, and dust low surfaces. Show them first and expect it to be imperfect for a while.
How much pocket money should I give per chore?
There’s no set rule. Start small, such as a few rand per chore for younger children, and increase it as they take on bigger jobs. The most important thing is to pick an amount you can keep paying every week.
Should children be paid for chores?
Families differ. Some pay for every chore, some give a fixed weekly amount, and many expect everyday jobs like making their bed without pay but pay for extra jobs like washing the car. The chart works with any of these.
Is my chart saved?
It’s saved in your browser on this device, and the share link holds the whole chart, so you can open it on another phone. Nothing is sent to us.
