2027 reference dates are also not confirmed here. We have not copied dates from another province.
Who applies, and how
The latest department admissions circular verified here is for the 2026 intake. Confirm 2028 requirements with the school.
- The verified circular covers Grade R, Grade 1 and Grade 8 school applications. It is for the 2026 intake, not an announcement of 2027 or 2028 dates.
- For Grade 8, it describes forms issued through feeder primary schools and submitted to the secondary school. Ask the school to confirm the current route.
- Learners whose parents relocate should be considered for placement using their current residential address.
Documents to prepare
The department’s published checklist; check for any 2028 updates.
- For Grade R or Grade 1, the verified circular lists a birth certificate, Road to Health / clinic card and parent ID copies.
- It also describes identity / passport or permit documents and proof of residence, with an affidavit or sworn statement if required documents cannot be supplied.

- Ask the school for the current outcome and acceptance dates. The older circular describes circuit and district admissions committees that support placements.
