How it works
Fill in the outing and the slip updates as you type. Blank lines are left off, and a cost of 0 shows as free. Each A4 page prints two copies, so you can cut it in half to save paper.
Every slip with a cost includes a line inviting parents to speak to the teacher in confidence if money is a problem. At public schools, unpaid school fees can’t be used to keep a learner out of the school’s programme (Schools Act, section 41(7)). Check your province’s rules for outings, such as ratios of adults to learners and transport, before the trip.
Questions
What should a school permission slip include?
What the outing is, the date and times, where learners are going, how they’ll get there, the cost and when to pay, what to bring, and who to contact. The reply slip asks for the parent’s consent, signature, an emergency number and any medical needs.
Can a school stop a learner going on a trip because fees are unpaid?
Not at a public school, if the trip is part of the school’s programme. Section 41(7) of the Schools Act protects a learner’s participation even if school fees are unpaid. A separate trip cost is a different matter, which is why the slip invites parents to talk to the teacher if money is a problem.
Should a permission slip include an indemnity?
This template asks for consent, not an indemnity. A school can’t sign away its duty to look after learners, so an indemnity line often gives false comfort. Follow your province’s rules for school outings and your governing body’s policy.
Is anything I type saved?
Only the school name is remembered on this device so you don’t retype it. Nothing is sent to us.
