How it works

UFS calls its score the Admission Point (AP). It uses the NSC scale, with 90–100% worth 8 points: 80–89% is 7, 70–79% is 6, 60–69% is 5, 50–59% is 4, 40–49% is 3 and 30–39% is 2. Below 30% scores nothing.

Your AP is the total of six academic subjects, plus 1 extra point if you get 60% or more for Life Orientation. The highest possible AP is 49.

Example from UFS: five subjects at 60% (25 points), one at 50% (4 points) and Life Orientation at 60% (1 point) gives AP 30.

English (Home or First Additional Language) at 50% is needed unless a programme says otherwise. Selection starts from the highest AP, so meeting the minimum doesn’t guarantee a place.

This calculator follows the method UFS publishes for 2027 entry, checked against its own documents: UFS Undergraduate Prospectus 2027 · UFS: 2027 application procedure. It’s an estimate: the university’s own assessment of your final results decides admission.
