How it works

Wits uses its own 8-point scale: 90–100% is 8 points, 80–89% is 7, 70–79% is 6, 60–69% is 5, 50–59% is 4, 40–49% is 3, and anything below 40% scores 0.

English and Mathematics get 2 extra points when you score 60% or more, so 90% in Maths is worth 10.

Life Orientation counts, on a smaller scale: 4 points for 90%+, 3 for 80–89%, 2 for 70–79%, 1 for 60–69% and 0 below 60%.

Your APS is the total of your best seven subjects, including Life Orientation. Subjects your faculty requires must be included.

Mathematical Literacy is accepted only for LLB, Education and Humanities (not Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology).

This calculator follows the method Wits publishes for 2027 entry, checked against its own documents: Wits: Entry requirements · Wits: Apply to Wits. It’s an estimate: the university’s own assessment of your final results decides admission.
